Unlike the private sector, your employer is elected and, therefore, subject to political influences. That is why it is so important that the labor organization representing you be recognized with political strength.
The Teamsters International Union and its political affiliations are the most powerful lobby affiliations in the country today, affecting all levels of government: federal, state, and local including local school boards and townships. Local 214 is recognized as one of the most aggressive unions working within the political process on behalf of our membership.
D.R.I.V.E. – Democratic, Republican, Independent, Voter Education. Local 214 is also a member of the Teamsters D.R.I.V.E. Program, which is the largest legislative and political program of any labor organization in the world.
It is imperative that the organization representing you be actively involved in the political process at all levels. Without a sufficient financial base, a bargaining unit would be unable to sustain the cost involving the political process.
